Was excited to get back to work. Every morning I get to enjoy slow breakfast with Erik, followed by a relaxing tea time. I slowly head out at 9:30, hop on U-bang that is nearly empty yet always on time, still be able to prepare for the day before others come in. Since I seem to be the first consultant this company has hired, I feel more determined to leave a good impression. Now that I have access to the source code, I felt I should at least make one commit to the code repository today. The office environment is so laid back that it makes me wonder if anyone does any work on a day like this. Still there are objectives and targets to meet each week. With Jascha away this week, I felt responsible for delivery on time. Today joining our cell was Harsh who had been away for holidays last week. Ended up having lunch with just him and me; turns out he’s from Ahmedabad, I shared my day there last autumn, somehow felt we were able to connect better.
Ein bischen mehr über der Leute Ich arbeite mit. My client, the Swedish bank recently acquired a German startup that handles ecommerce transactions, and now trying to incorporate the unit under its brand. So the two developers whom I work alongside had been working there for years. There are two other guys in the room whose job is more like product management. These guys had been working on their startup idea, and whilst they were looking for funding, they were hired to do what they meant to do inside this Swedish company. So now there are two guys trying to push for a new product, plus two other guys who have experience in building something similar, and whole lot of resources that can be utilized from what built by the folks in Stockholm, yet the team still needs extra hands on how to put these pieces together. I believe that’s where I come in. As days go by, it’s becoming more apparent that these guys are not as experienced as I thought. I’m probably the oldest one in the room, still at bottom of hierarchy. Idk how this will turn out, but gotta do my best to keep the ball rolling. (at Mindspace)
