Zur Arbeit zurückkehren. Finally back to work after a year of break. Time for the brain resurrection.
Siebenter Tag in Berlin
Also the first day in the office. The whole excitement looking forward to today was primarily about the new environment I would become part of. I’ve worked with international organizations before, but still this is a unique setting I’ve not experienced before.
When I got to the office building, it was actually shared workspace, I was greeted by Jascha whom I had online interview with ten days ago. This friendly chap gave me a very personalized induction, introducing me to everyone else. This somehow reminds me of one particular previous workplace where my short temper eventually burned the bridge with a guy who was seemed as excited to have me onboard. As I have matured over the past years I believe and my interest lies in staying here long enough, I will constantly remind myself not to do anything stupid, say anything I’d regret, not be too eager but get along well with the folks around me and enjoy the time.
Turns out because of the project’s urgency, as it takes fairly long to hire people with 3+months notice periods, the company turned to freelancers. The work itself doesn’t seem that complicated, and contrary to my concerns, there is not much I need to catch up from the past year’s absence. And above all, the team seems very easy going. Gotta love how considerate German are. All the folks in the same room have been speaking English the whole time amongst themselves, that until lunch time, I didn’t realize I’m the only non-German in the room. Looking forward to another day at office tomorrow. (at Berlin Mitte)
