Achter tag in Berlin
Been a very tiring day; perhaps I shouldn’t have drank beer last night, but ever since I got here, every night there seems to be too many good reasons to drink at any point of the day. My laptop still hasn’t arrived, so I pretty much spent another day surfing the web. Even that got me bored towards end of the day and I had to try very hard to stay awake. I must have fell asleep at some point that my colleague Lucas took pity on me, thus it was beer’o clock! Heard in a month time we are moving to another office where there’s a beer tab in the kitchen, so I wonder how that will turn out🤔
After work, I stopped by Neue Nachbarschaft(some form of community center with a bar serving cheap beer) where Eric teaches German to immigrants/refugees. It was inspiring how these people of local community spare their time volunteering to help these people adjust to the new environment. Afterwards we had more beer, went to the Lebanese kebab place, then watched the football match between Germany & Brazil. Seems like every friendly match here is a big match with the best national teams in he world.
It’s been a week since I’ve moved to Berlin, and feels like my German hasn’t improved at all, for a good reason. I’m only speaking English at both work & home. I don’t yet recall enough vocabularies in order to have continuing conversation, but gotta up my game by doing More duolingo lessons in my spare time. Seems like a long way to match my Spanish level, zehn am tag von morgen! (at St. Michael’s Church, Berlin)
