Certainly not the best kind of sunset I’ve seen upto date but the kind that will bring up the memories of that moment every time I stare at the photo.
40. Vientiane, Laos
After eleven hours on a night bus, I finally arrived in Vientiane.i have barely slept as the bus made a stop every hour and something kept me from sleep throughout the night such as a guy in front watching a movie on his phone on full brightness or women below chatting throughout the night. Anyhow I managed to get some sleep, and not too bad for another night bus experience on a new continent. It was perhaps the excitement of sudden shift in travel plans along with prospects for the upcoming day. Upon arrival, I went to a nearby hotel from where Shino is staying, somehow negotiated for better than the last minute sale rate I found online, then we ventured out to explore the city. Nothing particularly stood out as prominent or scenic but had a pretty damn good time. I guess companionship always adds to exciting memories of traveling. As I have learned in ongoing mooc on science of well being, chattiness does seem to boat daily satisfaction for sure. If only had I spoken some French, along with Japanese & German, that would have easily covered more than 50% of backpacker population in the region. I surely converse in German more than my Berlin days though.
