30. Christchurch, New Zealand
Being the largest city in the South Island, we would have had to stop by Christchurch. I am glad we only stayed here for one night though. There isn’t much to see or do, ruins of 2011 earthquake are visible in every corner, the entire city was somewhat depressing, I guess that was merit of the city, as I never been to a city recently been through natural catastrophe. One more thing I should probably have done was send my parents back from here, had I known Christchurch airport also has direct connections to Osaka and Nadi. This journey together became longer than needed because I felt bad about sending mother back on flight before or on her birthday, but I didn’t see how it would instead lead to increased stress and more arguments. My lifespan probably became shorter at the expense of giving her more bragging rights.
