12. Muscat, Oman
Thought I had found peace by the time I left Cairo and I was content just to make my Exodus from Egypt once for all, but my bitterness came back once I arrived in Muscat. Firstly, could not rent a car because I lost my driving license, second, Oman is not a country where I can simply roam around on foot or public transportation. So what could I do. I was pretty exhausted mentally by the time I got there so decided to just relax for 3 days, good thing that I booked a fairly decent hotel because I was worried my supposedly rental car might get scratched over night or something, shopping malls and the famous mosque was kind of nearby as long as I can cross the highway on foot. After all that, not doing much other than eat, sleep, swim & perhaps some work, I felt pretty good. If I had a car, I probably exhaust myself further with more sightseeings, get myself into more tourist traps, although I don’t think Oman is that populated with tourists yet. I am again at peace now, but I may want to revisit Oman sometime in the future, and couldn’t find a postcard anywhere, sorry Francis!
