Day 9 Kandy to Colombo

Had enough of Sri Lanka, I was so exhausted with continued annoyance at the locals that I had to leave “sofort” The kind of acation I really needed at that moment was chilling on a quiet beach, where nobody would come bother me anyhow, eat healthy food, sleep well. After a week, it was evident that none of which was attainable in Sri Lanka. Somehow I couldn’t ensure myself that I can get to the airport by certain time, so with nothing set in itinerary, I took the train back to Colombo in the morning. Come to think of it, Sri Lanka had relatively reliable modes of transportation; my standards were just too high at the time. Arrived at Colombo fort in the afternoon, went straight to the only cafe I know in town with fast internet, booked a same day flight to Denpasar. I definitely underestimated how tired I would get after traveling with family for a week, and don’t know what I was thinking picking Sri Lanka as the first stop, probably because of the flight departure time, price and since it was on the way to southeast Asia. Anywhere in Thailand or Bali would have been auch better candidate though. Finding a bus or shuttle to the airport was another hassle as there was no sense of queueing in this former Britanized society, ended up sitting on someone’s suitcase along the way, but at least I got there. It was another hectic day, spent all day outside in the sweaty Colombo hell until my 11pm flight, but felt a sigh of relief when I finally boarded my first AirAsia flight. Better fasten my seatbelt.
