Day 8 in Kandy

It was probably the best time to be in Sri Lanka since Kandy Esala Perahera was about to begin in two days. It’s an Buddhist festival celebrated to honor the tooth relic which is preserved in Maligawa temple. Here I saw hundreds of other tourists, which were almost nonexistent elsewhere in the country. That meant even more numerous touters annoying me in every corner in town. As much as it was tempting to visit Ella, then return during the festival, I was determined to flee the country at once. Now I’d think, why I was so tense back then but that’s probably how I have changed over the course of year. One thing about Sri Lanka though is that everything the locals are trying to sell, one is likely find something better outside of Sri Lanka, whether they are souvenirs, nature tours, show performance, even monuments. Had I seen more of Asia before visiting here, I would have certainly seen more, but my week here definitely helped me prepare for what is to come in India exactly two months later.
