Whole day spent on train ride from Trincomalee to Kandy which took like 10 hours. The thing about traveling in a small developing country is that there is only one way out, the way you came in. As much as painfully long trip it may have been, also a memorable journey it shall be. People selling all kinds of stuff from steamed corns to sweets I have no idea how is made. There was one stop where the train was supposed to be joined with another. As soon as the train came to a complete stop, construction workers went up to fix the roof of the station. The country really seems to lack resources that people build everything out of scrap metals and plastics because bricks are nowhere to be found. Train journeys in 19th century style is arguably the highlight of traveling in Sri Lanka. I wonder if I will once again have a chance to travel through the country before all those trains get replaced with the Chinese imports.
