The best restaurant in town was actually just around the block from where I’m staying, open 24/7! I wonder how I didn’t notice it until now. What’s more, I couldn’t believe the price. These pork soup dumplings are like £0.25 a piece although I was was still happy paying a little more in more touristy restaurants.

The most common imagery used for tourism in Kutaisi is Gelati Monastery, so I felt determined to visit this place today. Planned on returning by 3pm for my weekly hangout with the family, I headed out to opera house, and no Marshrutkas were to be found. Turns out those bound for Gelati depart from behind Meskhisvili theatre on Mari Brosse street near Pub Barca. They leave every two hours from 10:00, costs 1 lari. The minibus was packed as usual with the locals returning to their home after shopping in Kutaisi. After 20 minutes or so, I arrived at the monastery. But wtf, the remain cathedral was on construction, not much else to do, the next ride back is two hours later! While walking around taking some photos, a couple from Poland approached me asking if I’m interested in sharing a taxi for a day tour. Well, although I didn’t see much around Kutaisi, I didn’t wanna tour Spartan style especially on the day before returning, so I declined, but we had a bigger problem, how to get back to town. Aña’s boyfriend who spoke good Russian tried to find a taxi driver while we stayed hidden by the gate since she was concerned my appearance might get in the way of bargain. The Georgian lady who happened to be sitting by the gate who has been observing us meanwhile offered us a lift, saying she doesn’t want money. Soon her husband showed up, back to hotel just in time for the video call.

Got a morning flight to catch tomorrow but cannot sleep. So not ready to go back to the winterland, work, & all the worries back in Berlin. Wish I stay here for another week😭 (at Eldepo)
